Dr. Lori K — Nurse Practitioner and Doctor of Clinical Nutrition

A Journey Driven by Purpose

My path to becoming a Nurse Practitioner and Doctor of Clinical Nutrition didn't happen overnight — it was built on years of being a Nurse Educator. My early career working at Alexian Brothers as a BSN centered around patient care for people with diabetes, cardiac conditions, and various other health conditions. Next, I spent 25 years working in the pharmaceutical industry and was fortunate to continue to learn many skills and educational degrees — leading me to this passion of helping others feel good. "You often don't know how bad you feel, till you feel good."

I began helping patients in January 2018 when I launched my nutrition and weight loss practice. Early on, I realized that weight was rarely the whole story — it was a signal of deeper metabolic, hormonal, and nutritional imbalances. That realization sent me back to school.

I earned my Doctorate in Clinical Nutrition to go deeper into the science of how food, nutrients, and lifestyle shape health at the cellular level. Then, in June 2026, I completed my Family Nurse Practitioner degree — giving me the ability to order comprehensive labs, prescribe appropriate medications when indicated, and expand my clinical toolkit to support conditions with both targeted nutrients and evidence-based medicine.

Today, I am uniquely positioned at the intersection of conventional primary care and advanced nutritional science — a combination that is rare, and that I believe is exactly what patients with chronic conditions need.

My Philosophy: Proactive, Not Reactive

Traditional medicine often waits for disease to appear before acting. I believe in a different model — one that identifies risk early, addresses root causes, and empowers patients to take control of their health trajectory.

Preventative Over Reactive

Rather than waiting for a diagnosis, I work with patients to identify metabolic imbalances, nutritional deficiencies, and lifestyle patterns that predict disease — and address them before they progress.

Root Cause Medicine

Symptoms are signals, not diagnoses. I use advanced laboratory evaluation — blood, urine, and stool testing — to uncover the underlying contributors to your health challenges, not just manage what's on the surface.

Personalized Supplementation

As we age, our bodies require tailored nutritional support based on our individual biology. I encourage testing to identify your specific needs — including nutritional genetic testing to understand how your genes are best supported — rather than guessing with generic protocols.

Evidence-Based Integration

Every recommendation I make is grounded in science. I combine the best of conventional medicine with evidence-based nutrition therapy, targeted supplementation, lifestyle modification, and complementary therapies — all supported by clinical research.

Testing, Not Guessing

The Power of Testing

I believe in testing, not guessing. Advanced laboratory evaluation — including blood panels, urine analysis, stool testing, and nutritional genetic testing — gives us a precise picture of your biology. This allows us to build a treatment plan that is truly personalized to you, not a one-size-fits-all protocol.
